first package holiday

The first package holiday was made in 1841, this was a short trip from
Leicester to Loughborough and this journey was made by train. Even though this
was the first package holiday this was only on a train. It is believed that the
first package holiday that took place was in 1949 when Vladimir Raitz took 32
passengers to Corsica.
development of holiday camps

in 1945 holiday camps were at there peak of business, they would be catering
for up to 60per cent of the holiday market. the important names in the market at
this time were; warners, butlins and pontins.
first package on a plane
7 Feb 1949
as thomas cook did the first package holiday through the uk, this package
deal was organised by a guy called Vladimir Raitz. on this package holiday he
took 32 passengers to corsia on a DC3 aeroplane. each customer was charged
£32.50. with them paying this fee they got accomodation, return flights,
transfers and full board.

horizon holidays was founded by Vladimir Raitz who was also the same people
who did the first ever package deal abroad, by the 1950s horizon holidays was
known to be one of the UKs majour tour operators.
the downgrade of holiday camps

in the 1970's there was a downgrade of people using holiday camps, this was
for the simple fact that more people wanted to have sunshine and package
holidays which were introduced in a wider market for packages abroad. this increased
peoples interests in going abroad instead of staying in the same
country.
currency restrictions

in the 1970's there were lifted currency restrictions, this would appeal to
people which were flying abroad because the most people were able to take out of
the country was £50 in sterling. this lift on the currency meant a big increase
in people wanting to go abroad knowing that they were able to spend and take
alot more money with them.
start of the transport act
1 Jan 1980
The transport act took place in the 1980's, this act ended licensing
regulations which may have effected the express coach routes and tours which
reached over 30miles. These changes then led to a competion between national bus
and private companies.
change of transport act in 1985
31 Dec 1985
in 1985 the transport act brought whe whole wholesale degration about. this
would mean that private companies were able to operate on any route.
air passenger duty
1 Jan 1996
The air passenger duty was reduced on economy flights in 1996, this then
later relied on removing a barrier to the growth within the inbound tourism.
With them reducing economy flights this would mean that less inbound tourists
would be able to enter the UK than what there used to be.

in 2006 air passenger duty was majouring increased, however this wasnt the
only increase there was also a furthur from november 2010 which could cause
controversy within the industry.

the airbus A380 is able to seat between 555 and 800 passengers. the first
singapore airlines were the first to fly the plane on a first ever flight to
sydney in 2007.
