Tour operators
Tour operators are businesses that combine two or more travel services like transport, accommodation, meals, entertainment and sightseeing and sell them through travel agencies or directly to final consumers as a single product for a global price. Some tour operators provide sporting services such as pack trains or recreation services, such as fishing guides, white-water rafting, parasailing, hang gliding, and water skiing. They conduct scenic and sightseeing tours.
Mass Market
A mass market tour operator is a tour operator such as Thomas Cook or Thomson who deal with just about any type of holiday. They put together packages to suit everyone's needs whether it's a wild 2 weeks in party central Ibiza or a romantic
weekend getaway in the city of love - Paris. They cater for just about everything. A mass market tour operator supplies their customers with accommodation, transfers, transport and extra services.
Specialist tour operation
A specialist tour operator is different to a mass market tour operator which puts together packages with a combination of accommodation, travel and sometimes transfers. A specialist operator is more flexible for the customer to be able to
do what they want to do, they specialise and cater to the tourists interests.. e.g. Cycling holidays, trekking. They also ( sometimes) have few clients than mass operators and due to catering and tailor making the holiday, they can
charge higher prices. An example of a specialist tour operation is Audly travel.
